"As an Asian American
artist, I am fortunate to have embraced the modalities of art
and culture of the East
and the
West in my paintings.
The void is an integral part of oriental
art, beckoning us to rest and breathe deeply, as if in awe of
the subject, drawn-most
often-from nature. The visible areas of my work are done with
a few economical strokes that evoke the essence of the subject.
The values, tones, density, form and shapes are all encompassed
in one or two brushstrokes.
As part of the completion of my painting,
poetry, prose and calligraphy, as well as name seals, are placed
within the artwork
and are harmoniously balanced. |
