MiKyung Seo
Miyung Seo was born in South Korea. She came to New York 5 years ago to attend MFA programs at Pratt Institute. In the course of work, She establishes an art form that is personal and a focus on reconnection between painting and sculpture. Her work series "Mirage" magnifies the domain of formal painting while overcoming the limits of two dimensions. Miyung Seo currently lives in New York.
“My primary intention for my work is to find new possibilities of art form through the embodiment of a creative image coming from my random memories. Generally speaking, images in my work are presented as multiple elements forming organic wholes. I am interested in this image because whenever I got on a plane, I usually sit by the window to look at the view outside. As the plane rises from the ground, everything in the huge mass unites as one, like cohesive molecules. This phenomenon lets me think about the appearance of physical matter from various points in time and space. the passage from land to sky and the space inside of the plane change everything on a continent into a simple pattern, like a unified fabrication.”
