Born in Korea, Heejung Kim obtained an MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1991 and her MFA from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1994. Kim has been producing art based on personal imagination and eastern philosophy. Her major works include handmade books and wrapped sculptures. She has exhibited in numerous shows including solo exhibitions at Stephen Gang Gallery in Manhattan; Kougeas Gallery in Boston; and group exhibitions at Ohio State University and SUNY at Stony Brook. Currently, Kim teaches studio arts at New Jersey City University, the Bronx School of Music and Art, and the Cultural Center of Korea in New Jersey.
