Doris J. LettauBorn in Taiwan, Doris J. Lettau grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art and Photography from San Jose State University and moved to New York to earn her Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy from New York University. Doris worked as a clinician in New York City hospitals and schools where she developed and led art programs for children and adolescents living with learning disabilities and substance abuse. She also taught visual arts while living overseas in Ghana, West Africa, and traveled extensively throughout Europe to study the works of classical and impressionist masters. Doris paints a variety of subject matter ranging from plein air landscapes to figure, portrait, and still life compositions. Her recent work of natural landscapes focuses on the integration of light, color and design to capture a sense of mood and atmosphere. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in New York and California, and her work is in private and public collections including New York University. Doris lives in Greenwich Village in New York City with her husband Martin and son Jonas. |
