Zhang Yu
Zhang Yu was born in Beijing, China. She studied at the Central Academy
of Fine Arts, Beijing, and also at the Beijing Science and Arts College
where she received her B.F.A degree. She worked as an art critic and journalist
at Musical Life in Beijing before coming to the U.S. in 1998. She has
taught Fine Art at PS 106 High School in New York City. In 2000, she published
“Passport”, an artists’ book and visual biography, which
has been reviewed by Umbrella magazine and is currently available at Printed
Matter, NY. She has also exhibited her work in China, Japan and the U.S.
Her most recent exhibition was at Nasu-Kougen Museum, Japan, and at the
Kentler International Drawing Space, NY.
