Shirley Pu Wills
Born in Tokyo, Japan, of Chinese parents, Shirley Pu came to the United
States with her family when she was seven. She received her BFA from Pratt
Institute. She spent several years in Hawaii working as a fashion illustrator
while studying Chinese brush painting at the University of Hawaii. Upon
returning to New York City, she continued under masters Wang Da-Wen and
Jin Guang-Yu for eight years. Pu has taught Chinese Brush Painting at
Drew University in New Jersey, the New Jersey Center of Visual Arts, and
the China Institute in Manhattan. She is a member of the Oriental Brush
Artist Guild at the Hammond Museum in North Salem, New Jersey. The Simon
Gallery in Morristown, New Jersey currently represents Pu.
