Doris J. Lettau
Born in Taiwan, Doris J. Lettau grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from San Jose State
University, and then moved to New York to earn her Master of Arts degree
in Art Therapy from New York University. As a clinician in New York City
hospitals and schools, she developed and led art programs for children
and adolescents living with learning disabilities and substance abuse.
Doris also taught visual arts while living in Ghana, West Africa, and
has traveled extensively to study the works of classical and impressionist
masters. Currently she is studying under noted painter and draftsman Dan
Thompson. With an intense focus on figurative drawing and representational
oil painting, she works both plein-air and in her studio. She has participated
in solo and group exhibitions in New York and California. Doris lives
in Greenwich Village in New York City with her husband Martin, and maintains
a studio in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
