AAWAA artists are showing their diversity and energy in "Visual Delights". Quite apart from their usual painterly work, 9 artists from the group will show extraordinary art objects that are utilitarian and decorative. In keeping with the tight timeframe for this first Winter Festival, Binkley Mana gallery and AAWAA have put in tremendous effort to make this exhibition possible.
"Visual Delights" represents the rich diversity of Asian American Women artists in terms of culture as well as a broad range of artistic approaches in a variety of disciplines. Representative work in this show includes: glass work by Dallas Chang and Mana Shimomura, metal sculpture by Cecil Chong, hand sewn and silk-screen interior of handbags by Sun Han, pit fired stoneware by Jane Tobin Jacobs, collages by Fannie Lee, installations by Jen Kim, resin sculptures of light and color by Yan Kong.

"Lunar New Year Celebration": Asian American women artists
ushers in the Lunar New Year with an afternoon of festivities between
1 - 6 PM. Dumpling making party begins at 1 PM: learn to
make and eat your own hand-made dumplings; play Wheel Of Fortune;
Keiko Bjorkman and Deborah Dee will sing Chinese Folk Songs to
entertain, firecrackers, almond cookies and tea. Lucky red envelope
accompanies purchase of tickets to this event.

Winter Festival web site or newspaper advertisement for the Festival.
The Asian American Women Artists Alliance is a 501C-3 non-profit organization which supports and promotes Asian American Women Artists in the visual, literary and performing arts by organizing exhibitions, performances, and readings, and by sponsoring educational workshops and seminars that help artists develop their careers. AAWAA was formed in 1998 to create an intergenerational, Pan-Asian network for emerging and established women artists. Every year AAWAA showcases a diverse group of artists of all ethnicities.
