AAWAA Shadow Puppet Workshops

Artists Yan Kong,  Song Xin and Helen Lin  lead the workshops in the creation of puppets and scenery set design using Chinese cut-paper technique. The production of a CD/sound track is made for the Play Performance.  Puppets are made with acetate film and manipulated horizontally on the overhead projector.

AAWAA is currently accepting proposals for future Home Rooms. For more information please contact info@aawaa.org.

The Home Rooms will be shown as a series of Asian cultural parades bringing arts and cultures to an underserved neighborhood in Brooklyn and the larger community of New York City. One ethnically-specific (Asian) artist group each year, will create an installation that evokes a historical time of their culture. The artist team must identify the objectives for their choice and clearly express to the viewing audience an environment that is both welcoming and a learning experience. The installation created must be innovative in a contemporary sense. Proposal should not be more than three pages, including planned activities, theme of the Home Room Project and credentials of the Artist team. Proposal can be sumbitted in mail or e-mail.

" Tunnels and Bridges", 11/6-11/26, AAWAA group exhibition at Ceres Gallery, New York City, 2005.
